What is medical coding? 

  • Medical coding is the transcription of diagnosis, procedures, and medical equipment into an alphanumeric code. 

  • The alphanumeric code is then sent to the insurance companies (Medicare, Medicaid, and third party payers)

What is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC)? 

  • A Certified Professional Coder reviews clinical documentation and translates medical procedures, diagnosis, supplies, and services into codes that are submitted on a medical claim to payers for reimbursement.

 

Are the courses offered online or in person? 

  • We currently do not have an in person option for the individual medical coding classes.

 

  • All classes are taught online through a  Learning Management System (LMS) unless they are specifically contracted through a Physician's office.  

What is the difference in the "self paced" course and the "instructor led" course? 

  • The "self paced" course does not include an instructor. The student purchases the curriculum and  learns how to code on their own with very minimal assistance. 

  • The "instructor led" course includes a Certified Professional Coder that teaches the 16 week course. 

Do you all offer payment plans? 

  • Yes!

When are the classes taught? 

  • For the "instructor led" course, the classes are taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm until 8:30pm.

  • For the "self paced" course, the students proceed at their own pace. 

What happens if it takes more thatn 16 weeks to complete the "self paced" course? 

  • Additional time is available for purchase
